By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I found out that when an officer screams, "DON'T MOVE OR I'LL TASE YOU", it really means, "If you so much as flinch I'm going to shoot and 50,000 volts will be directed through your nose and groin." FML

HEY THIS IS THE OP!!! I LOVE all the controversy this has sparked but no people, I wasn't doing anything. Not to bash on the wonderful peace officers that uphold the law in this great HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA man I couldn't say THAT with a straight face. Ok so here's what happened. We're in this little border town, its called El Paso, TX. Some jerk wad that "matched my description" had robbed a store and knocked some cop out on the way out. Now, not two blocks away I was standing on the curb trying to give a friend directions to my house... An EPPD Unit comes up lights flashing, sirens blaring flanked almost instantly by 3 other squad cars. He jumps out and well you know what happened after, now to go into detail. I'm a rather clumsy person, I got scared, dropped my cell and hands shot up in the air, heres where the clumsy comes into play, I was standing on the edge of the curb and my foot slipped down, "the flinch" and thats where the officer took his cue. I really don't know how one ended up (I'm not going to lie it was right NEXT to my nose) in my face and in my groin but yes, they did, and it's the worst feeling I have EVER felt. Eventually things were cleared up and I did receive an apology, I didn't pursue it further and that was the end of it, as a side note. The times I HAVE run from cops its been on a motorcycle for traffic violations and they've never caught me. I've never evaded arrest for a violent crime, nor am I saying that I've committed one... lol

LMAO, this makes all the posters saying "COPS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT!!! ONLY DRUGGIES AND RAPISTS HATE COPS!!!11 BLINDLY OBEY!!!" look pretty stupid. Thanks for following up, OP. Cops DO abuse their power a lot, and the people that try to make all cops look like saints are the ones who think privacy invasion and power abuse is OK, as long as the reason is something like "we gotta get the terrorists/drug dealers/liberals" and "THINK OF TEH CHILDREN!!!'' "Anyone who is willing to give up a little freedom for a little security deserves neither" - Ben Franklin

In other words, your clumsy slip made it look to the cop like maybe you were taking a step towards him? Can't fault for the cop for the reflex to taze then. FYL but understandable...the collateral damage for living in a world where cops know they can be blown away even at a simple traffic stop.

No, no, no, no! It's not understandable at all. Stop justifying the cop, it's misplaced insecurity. "OMG teh police uphold our virtues n stuff lolol" The dude slipped and instead of trying to aid him, Calamity ******* Jane ended up abusing his power and tasing him.

El Paso has a large police academy and a TON of their cops are rookies.

It is my experience that people who hate cops are people who have the need to fear them. I have never met a law abiding citizen with a law abiding family who hates cops. never. The only people that I've ever talked too that hate cops are people who are either on drugs, doing something illegal, or they have a close friend or relative that is. So doesn't that seem to put things in better perspective? Of course if cops are telling you that you that what you're doing is wrong you're going to hate them. Most cops are really good people who just wanted to help people. The fact that only the negative stories make it to the news is not their fault and it does not mean all cops are bad. And as for that documentary, the person who made it obviously really hates cops. And he's probably into illegal activities or knows someone who is. He picked out the worse cases he could find in order to make you believe all cops are evil. Way to fall for it guys.

HAHA, try telling that to my little sister. She got pulled over and the cop thought she was drunk because her "eyes looked funny", she blew a .00 and passed the sobriety tests, but the cop still arrested her and made her spend the night in jail with prostitutes and drug addicts because he was determined to book her for something. He ended up charging her for "reckless driving" even though she hadn't been driving recklessly in the first place (she got pulled over for having a light out) and has so much crap to deal with now because of the charge. She's a senior in high school, plays Varsity soccer and basketball, volunteers for 15 hours a week and has a 4.0 GPA. She doesn't drink or do drugs. But according to you, she's a bad citizen just because now she distrusts the cops. It must be nice to be that naive.

She had a bad experience with ONE cop so she now hates all of them. I had a bad experience with ONE soccer player b/c she was a bitch. Does that make you sister a bitch? no. So in fact she is the naive one to group every cop in the world into one clump b/c of her bad experience with ONE person. That's very judgement of her and you in the first place.

And in fact you made my point. As soon as someone gets in trouble for something, they hate cops from then on. Even though she didn't do anything to deserve it. She still got in trouble and now she hates cops. Thanks for making my point for me.

I know people in family who hate cops just because of them abusing their powers. Not because they have/had a record.

yes but not every cop abuses their power. One of my friends graduated from the Police academy last month. In the class of 30 guys there were 2 that were just total assholes. No one can keep them from graduating if they don't fail or do anything wrong. So those two guys out of the 30 will be the cops that go power crazy and make everyone hate them. And the rest of those 30 guys who were really there b/c they want to help people and make places safer are going to be called pigs and hated and resented all because of the actions of those 2 guys. It really pisses me off. I just hate when people judge an entire group based on the actions of a few in the group. That's what people who hate cops are doing.

And how many cops "abuse their powers"? There's thousands of cops in the US, and you hear of relatively few of them actually abusing their powers. Every day cops go out on the street and do their jobs. Do you hear of abuses every day? No. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, as it obviously does. But I'd rather trust a cop than not.

A cop was driving drunk and killed two my friends while they were changing their tire off the side of the road and tried to flee the scene and a bunch of his cop buddies even threw a fundraiser to raise money for his case! Another dirty officer I know (my boyfriends brother), got fired because he pulled over his friend who was driving without a license and he had him and the passenger switch seats so that he didn't have to arrest him. Another cop (in a different county) arrested someone that I knew and it was recorded on tape that he pressured my friend into admitting something he didn't do or else the cop would add more charges. ANOTHER cop that is a friend of a friend beat up a guy at a bar. When I filed a complaint with my local police department to keep a watch on my house because of my abusive ex boyfriend, one of the officers TOLD my abuser that a complaint was filed which is illegal to do and put me in even more danger. So I have had very rare good experiences with cops. I am not on drugs, or ever have done something illegal, and any friend that I have that has been in trouble with the law has never held a grudge (except for the one who was pressured to admit he did a crime which he didn't but again, that officer got in trouble for that). I know some very very good cops but unfortunately I have encountered more bad than good.

Call me crazy, but I don't really see how being tased doesn't constitute an FML.

very good point sarcastic_lady. I completly agree.

Yeh well at least you werent shaking pajamas in Old Navy, then your life would really be ******.

I reject your intended reference to the "Jingle Jammies" FML, and substitute my own interpretation that "shaking pajamas" is a new euphemism for sexual activity. Yes... nice one.

Thunderbender 2

And considering the OP isnt IN JAIL then he couldnt have really done anything to deserve to get Tazered.

breakingdawnxx3 0

um yes he could have, cops tase people for their safety. the OP could've attacked the cop or run off. i live with a cop, so i know all about this shit.

Thunderbender 2

. . . So you're insinuating this person is on the run from the law and is posting about it on FML?

NewJoisey 0

ydi for doing something to make him tase you. dumbass

Did you even ******* read the OP's post saying why this happened? Oh no, of course, why read the comments before you post? Why do any research at all?

sportsnut 0

YDI for getting yourself into that situation in the first place and living in texas
