Today, my dad and I ran into a guy I've been dating. He flipped out and accused me of cheating on him. This is now the second guy to have a similar reaction to my dad. I guess this is one of those unexpected consequences of teen pregnancy that my parents didn't see coming. FML

While that is true, guys shouldn't flip out without getting the full story. I mean it's not like you were holding hands and making out with your dad, right? It's silly that they jump to conclusions so quickly.

Probably need to just drop them. If they are acting like that without listening to any explanation from you or your dad they are not gonna be worth your time. Good luck!

But the real question is is your dad single? asking for a friend.

Kind of looking for a follow-up - how exactly did the conversation go? OP: "Oh, hi, [boyfriend], nice to see you! Please meet my..." - BF: "OMG, you're walking next to another man who seems to be roughly your age - you must be cheating on me! Get away, you *****!" (runs in another direction)

Everyone thinks my mom is my sister because she had me so young :(

I wasn't trying to make it seem like a bad thing lol, I just kinda relate to the OP That is why I commented. Not trying to get sympathy from you or anyone else.

If a guy flips out just because you are walking with another man then they have significant jealousy issues. You are better off finding someone who can accept that if you are female you can have male friends etc. and it does not mean you are cheating. The fact it was your dad does not change that issue.

That happens with my dad too. People think he's my elder brother sometimes.

Op says 'a guy I've been dating' rather than 'the guy I've been dating'. She didn't use 'the' which is used when talking about a specific individual. Op used 'a' meaning there may be more than one meaning she may be cheating. Either that or just a grammar mistake...

''I own a car,'' hardly means you own several... ''I am seeing a guy,'' doesn't mean you're seeing several, either. I was actually taught you should always use 'a' when mentioning something for the first time. So I think it isn't even an error, and you're reading too deep into it.

Yes, but the phrase "a car I've been driving" seems to imply you're not 100% attached to only that one car.

That's not a reflection on the morality of dating vs. being in a relationship or a comment on the reaction of the guys. Purely grammatical.

Obviously they shouldn't have acted like that and aren't worth your time. Maybe in the future you should tell who you're seeing that your parents had you as teens so something like this doesn't happen again.

I'm inclined to say you dodged a bullet, there... If a guy flips out just from seeing you walk next to a man, he probably has severe jealousy issues and has a high chance of being abusive. It would be abnormal for a woman *not* to have male relatives, colleagues, friends, coursemates...

I don't think you understood. The parents were the teen parents, so her dads not all that much older than her. Hats why the boyfriend thought that, because she was hanging with a guy who looked a relatively similar age.

Either your dad looks really young or you look older.... maybe you should start having the guys that your dating, meet your dad sooner so they don't think your cheating. :')
