Today, my crew was called out to do some house maintenance. We were nearly done, when someone had the goddamned fucking brilliant idea of washing plaster off their hands in the kitchen sink, which clogged the pipes. Instead of getting paid, we now owe for damages. FML

Just so long as the plumber doesn't promise to snake your drain and/or flush your pipes, you'll be just fine...

How much plaster must have been on one guys hands?! Messy worker!!

Isn't this covered if your licensed, bonded, and insured?

I'm guessing this guy and his buddies aren't licensed, which makes it such a massive YDI. At least he sounds like he's gonna pay up though, I guess.

the problem sometimes is that your deductible is in the same ball park of the damages. and it simply is not smart business to raise your insurance payments when the situation may not warrant such action.

You should have told the homeowners it was poop. They'd have burned the place to the ground, collected the insurance money, paid your bill and moved out of state. Who's going to want to live in a state where people poop in kitchen sinks?

fire him, no one should be that absent minded in that field of work.

Common sense is the least common of all the senses.

You said someone. If you don't know who exactly did it, how can you fire them?

Because if he said, "Jack decided to wash the plaster off his hands..." we'd all be wondering who Jack is. I'm pretty sure he could figure out who it was.
