It's too bad the bars are all closed, otherwise you could have shown everyone your nice, clean colon.
Some hospitals/clinics feel that the only valuable personal time belongs to the Doctors. At some places if you don’t cancel appointments within 24-48 hours they’ll still charge you anyway. I personally have had that happen to me. When I finally got the procedure done I sent their bill back to them. Letting them know I don’t owe them anything for it. Because my time is valuable as well.
So I’m curious what the outcome of this was. Because I imagine the response would be something like “The first time you paid was for missing the appointment. You still owe us the amount due for when we performed the procedure. So pay up or we’re sending to collections.” What ended up happening?
That should tell you, you don’t get nearly enough fibre on a daily basis if you had that much to excrete through the help of a laxative.
When you get a colonoscopy, your large intestine has to be COMPLETELY clean and empty. So to accomplish that, you drink a half gallon of laxative and then chase it with a half gallon of water. Wait for that gallon of liquid to come out over six hours, and then repeat. After the first two hours, it’s literally just water and unabsorbed laxative coming out. It has absolutely nothing to do with your fiber intake.
I would fight that. Pretty sure they can't call a patient and cancel an appointment an hour prior. Some patients may live farther away than that, particularly if they're going to see a specialist in an outpatient clinic.
