Today, I found out that I can no longer have tea, which I have been drinking for as long as I remember, because caffeine now gives me severe hyperthyroidism attacks. I don't know what it's like to watch your best friend die after having known each other for several decades, but I imagine this is a good analogy. FML

🫂 The English feel your horror and anguish. As unholy as it is, there are some decent decaf teas these days. My bf gets caffeine related migraines so we had to go on the decaf quest. We even found some pretty decent decaf Earl Grey. There is hope. You just have to wade through the torcher of a fair bit of bad 'tea' to find the good ones.

You have my deepest sympathies. I'm on a break from tea right now due to a CPPS flare. As someone else said, there are decent noncaffeinated teas, you just have to keep trying. A tisane (herbal tea) I recommend is red rooibos; it has a robust flavour that can rival some black teas.

When I was told to cut out caffeine to see if it'd help my migraines, I switched to decaf everything, tea included. Even got a frother so I could make my London Fogs at home, since the Timmies didn't tend to have decaf Earl Grey on hand {only basic orange pekoe - no others). Anyway - I might not have the world's most refined palate, but I didn't notice any difference in taste between decaf and regular.

Losing your best friend and losing a favorite drink are two different things, but one can see how you would have to mourn either one.

Comparing this to death is excessive.
