well, as rude as he was, at least he was trying to help. talk to him and tell him that saying it that way doesn't help and instead just a friendly reminder of your diet would be better, which you shouldn't give up on by the way. If what you were doing wasn't working, then you should find something else to try.
call the wedding off. no guy will stay with a fat lady. unless you are going to make a life change which does not seem to be in the picture right now.

You asked him to help you lose weight at some point. He agreed. That means he has to do his job and encourage you to lose weight, even when you say you give up.
