you're pathetic. comparing your debt to someone who actually has an addiction? come on.
I totally sympathize. I'm in debt $120k from law school and now I only make 40k a year, barely. We need to stop teaching kids to dream.
And it gets worse! My boyfriend jut graduated med school and he is $350,000 in debt... Not to mention what interest will add. And to anyone who is under the impression that doctors make a fortune right out of school (or ever for that matter) get your head out of your ass! I'm pretty sure if I were working 80+ hours per week for $46,000 a year I would be saying F***MyLife
Actually, I really hope this person doesn't become a doctor... especially with that kind of attitude. If a patient is about to die, he'll probably feel hopeless and give up on em before he's fully tried. "Nothing to show for it" sounds about right. YDI. Biatch.
I'd rather b a doc anyday than a in debt shopper
Oh because a career in which you will make enough money in 2 or 3 years to pay off your debt isnt showing for something. You should not be in medical school moron!
Well, as a medical intern i can relate to the OP. Like someone said, many people don't finish med school, and get literally nothing to show for it. And believe me, while you're in the middle of it, and you see your friends getting jobs/kids/married, and you're still studying day and ******* night, getting no sleep, without the time to even watch the news, the fact that you may be saving lives sometime in the future isn't enough to preserve your sanity. Really OP, FY current L.
Wow, it seems like many of you do not comprehend that the ordinary doctor doesn't actually earn much money. The cost of supplies themselves accounts for a large percentage of the cost. I plan on being a doctor not for the money but because I want to help people. In the newspaper I read of a group of doctors who journeyed to South America to offer people free medical checkups. I want to do something like that.

At least you will have a good career once you are done with school!
"At least they have something to show for their debt"? What does that mean? In a few years you'll have a respectable career. A pile of shiny things won't help you earn money the same way a medical degree can.
