Gotcha!

By Anonymous - 08/05/2014 03:57 - United States - State College

Today, while at work as a telemarketer, I called a customer on his home phone. Once I was connected, an automated voice said, "To speak with a customer, please press 1." Confused, I pressed one. I then heard loud laughter followed by, "Oh my god! What a dumbass!" before they hung up. FML

People can be really rude. You're just trying to do your job.

You know what's really rude? Calling complete strangers on their personal phones in order to sell them something they don't want or need. I don't care if you are just trying to do your job. If your job consists of invading people's personal time and property, then part of the job is to suck it up when those people react in a negative way to your invasion. Sorry OP, but YDI for being a telemarketer. And honestly, if that's the worst response you get, you should count your lucky stars.

Telemarketing is a broad statement. It doesn't mean necessarily she is selling something herself. We don't know the details. I do understand nobody wants to be called to buy stuff, but we don't know the facts and just like anyone we all need our jobs.

YDI for being a telemarker, I'd prank you too.

Lol, I would do the same thing to you. You telemarketers deserve it for being so ******* annoying

Not exactly easy to pick your job nowadays. Like most people, OP takes what he can get. Don't be such an ass.

I am on the National don't call list. They even keep calling me after I tell them I am not interested in what they're selling. They don't deserve my politeness any more.

Telemarketing was (unfortunately) my first job. I was told that it can take up to 30 days to take you off of the list, no matter how many times the person on the other end uses the code to put you on do not call.

It has been more than 30 days. More like 6 months calling my house more than twice a day. That's why telemarketers piss me off and I get rude.

Being a telemarketer is a crap job that people do to try and make ends meet- not because it is their calling. It never hurts to be polite in your dealings with them. Remember the peron on the other end of the line is just another human being trying to get through the day and put food on the table.

Exactly. If a telemarketer calls and I pick up, I just politely tell them I'm not interested and hang up. It doesn't kill you to treat other human beings with a minimal amount of decency and respect. If you want to get pissed off, get pissed off at the owners of the telemarketing companies for bringing them into existence, not the poor sod who's being paid minimum wage to make calls to rude, belligerent, entitled assholes who think the whole world should revolve around them.

I did not give the telemarketer numer, nor did I ask them to call me. I do not feel obligated to be polite to an unwanted caller invading my time.

No one has to like them. would you be nice a frontline Nazi? same thing. he was just doing his job too.

I know I should feel bad for you... but I don't. YDI. -_-
