Happy Valentine's Day anyway

I personally don't celebrate Valentine's Day, and people have warped my view on it. It's an okay holiday for some people, but for me, all I get is hell. There's only one of two things that happen to me: 1. Some girl with 9000 balloons and stuffed animals comes to me like, "You don't have anything for Valentine's Day. You must feel miserable." or she gives me flack for being single on Valentine's Day, like it's ******* illegal. Or 2. A guy will give me something nice, like candy or a really nice card (I really appreciate cards) under the pretense that I'll let him pop my cherry. I'm sorry, but if he's just going to give me something just to have sex with me, he can keep it. It may be a sweet holiday for some, but I frankly have my own personal views on why I hate it.
Seriously. Why does it have to be one day in particular somebody shows affection (be it "Valentine's Day", "Sweetest Day", your anniversary, or whatever)? EVERY DAY you should be showing each other appreciation. And if you want to give someone a gift, ANY day should be ok, they shouldn't have to wait for a specific day. Ugh.
why 364? what's he do on his one day vacation
banks aren't open 364 days a year.
I don't celebrate valentines day either... your BF is right. Valentines day was invented by companies like Hallmark so that they could make more money. There is no real reason for valentines day except that it gets the card companies more money.
Yeah, let's all ignore the fact that it was celebrated long before Hallmark ever existed.
Actually that's awesome OP. Let's you off the hook too. Neither one of you need spend a dime. Remind him that you can give each other body massages, make love, go out for a hike somewhere, make some more love, watch a movie and eat popcorn together and make some.... you get the picture. (well I guess you couldn't really have the privacy to do any of those things if there are offspring running around lol)
The Bright Side: You don't have to celebrate his birthday considering its a "hypocrit's holiday"

364? Which one day gets left out? Also, I'm pretty sure banks are closed a lot more than 1 day a year.
And? Am I the only one who thinks it's disgusting that apparently you can't love someone without being expected to buy them $20 roses and whatnot. Gifts should be just what their name implies- something you get for free because someone else cares about you. Not something you whine about until you get because an arbitrary holiday says you deserve them. Seriously, has it ever occurred to you that if you have to whine at someone to get you a gift, or act romantic, or whatever, then they're probably just doing it to stop you bitching at them, and it's really not worth that much at all?
