He's too old for this noise

Today, my son was crying and my dad's way of helping was to go to the pub for an hour, then come back after my son had cried himself to sleep. I’d have kicked him out but he does a lot of other things around here, and I couldn’t cope without him. It doesn’t stop him being an insensitive prick. FML

Unless he has volunteered to (or you're paying him to) babysit, not his circus, not his monkeys. If he's living WITH you and you've made his help a condition in lieu of living expenses then you need to have a conversation, but if not, you had the kid, you look after it.

There must be a lot missing here… Was the child left alone? Is grandpa the babysitter?

He’s your son… not your baby daddy.

He’s your dad… not your baby daddy. Not his problem.

He’s your dad… not your baby daddy. Not his problem you can’t handle your kid.

It's the parents' job to handle their crying kids alone. Grandparents did their job -- this is not on them.

sounds like your taking advantage of your dad. he doesn't have to help you at all you know

You will find that you can do a lot of things he does for you or you can pay someone to
