Healthcare needs fixing

Today, I found out I need surgery, and the state medicaid insurance denied me full coverage for it, since my income is "over the limit". I make 35,000 a year and live in one of the most expensive states. FML

As a norwegian, who has been through several operations, between six and seven months in hospital and about a year and a half of treatment after I was discharged, completely free, covered by the government, I'm surprised this is not how the health care system is arranged everywhere!
