Heartless

Today, at a supermarket entrance, a seemingly drunk old lady said, "Sir?" as I passed by. I just ignored her and walked in. When I walked out with my groceries fifteen minutes later, several people were standing around her, calling for an ambulance. She'd passed out on the ground. FML

I don't see why you wouldn't have just asked what she needed, instead of ignoring her COMPLETELY... :/

Why did you ignore her?! Even as a courtesy you should at least see what's wrong and if she looks bad get help for her!

Don't you think you guys are over-reacting? What could have possibly changed if OP had stopped? Sure she might not have passed out and hit the ground. Sure 911 could've been called minutes earlier, but unless OP is a doctor/nurse there really isn't much he could have done. If she were really dying who wants to watch an old lady die? He was just there to buy some food. My mom is a traveling nurse licensed in 20+ states and I've been with her when we witnessed a bad wreck at an intersection in town and she did go to help, but she waited to see if anyone else was going to help first..know why? Bitch got places to be, can't be helping everyone I see!

Don't blame yourself OP. You couldn't have known that she was sick. Everybody that says OP was at fault, do you just talk to every random stranger that calls out to you? And I want you to think mostly about the seemingly drunk ones...

Why couldn't you just be a model citizen and help her out? Like seriously?! That's what's wrong with our society today nobody is willing to go out of their way to help someone unless they know for sure that they are getting something in return...

I would have done the same thing. People addressing you on the street, chances are: Asking for directions, asking for your money, harassment, attack: 99.9999% Someone feeling sick and needing help: 0.0001% Have to prioritize your own well-being if you want to live.

.. Well, i don't know how it is in other countries, but looking at the amount of 'ydi's', I'd think other places don't have homeless people in front of the supermarket? Not saying that they should be ignored and that this was all okay, but they are really in front of every supermarket here. And I'm very sorry, but I really, really, really do not have any change because I always use my pin for everything. So this is probably the reason for also many others, just like me, to just ignore the 'Please buy my newspaper' 'spare some change?', etc etc. How could OP have known something was wrong with her when you people in front of the supermarket always ask your attention?

she wasnt drunk..diabetic coma mimics intoxication

You sure are an asshole, I am an eagle scout and no matter the situation, you help someone in need.

I would've ignored a drunk person too, so you shouldn't feel bad.

Well that's rude she's an old lady :p you should have seen what she needed
