They can't ask how old you are but they can ask if you are at least 21. Also aren't you supposed to provide two forms of ID?
Usually they can ask if you are "at least x years old". Like for waitressing/bartenders etc. Surprised the application didn't ask that
They can, technically, ask. They simply have to ask if you're 21 or over. They don't know your age if you say yes or no, they just know that you're one or the other.
