Hood life

Today, my car wouldn't start because of the cold weather. Since I was at a friend's house, I asked him to jump-start it. After taking about ten minutes to start his vehicle and park it by mine, we found that both of our car hoods were frozen shut. FML

Just go on Facebook and make a picture that says. 100 likes and my car will turn on. That should work.

Oh, man OP. I hope everything worked out!

This exact same thing happened to me today too!! I had to manually jiggle the good release to get it open :/. Eventually got my car started tho!

It is -35 Celsius with the windchill here. I feel your pain OP. Luv from Alberta, Canada.

How does that even happen to a car? The not starting because of cold. I had a car in Winnipeg and it could start after being parked outside for days on end in winter. Hot water works when things are frozen shut.

they need a new battery..when batteries get to old the cold is harder on them..lack of car maintenance basically

Clearly you need to knit or crochet your car a nice woolen jumper with a hood to keep it warm at night so that it will love you and not refuse to start because its too cold. Make some wheel warmer booties while your at it too.

Did you try roll starting it instead to see if that would work?

To anyone asking how this happens to a car, gaskets shrink in the cold causing a leak in the vacuum that sucks in the fuel and and oxygen to start the car. Without this amount being correct, it can prevent starting, or screw up the fuel efficiency. Consider going to a local workshop and asking them to place a sealant along the edge where the gasket is if you can't do it yourself. It should HELP if not prevent the issue for a while at least.
