Wow OP I just hope that this didn't ruin a great day for you..
You're related to Dudley Dursley, aren't you?
Who made the accusation OP? Depending on who it came from, you can either care very little, or not at all. If it came from an attention seeking mother who wanted to be the one to give her daughter "the best" gift, then you needn't give it a second thought, because you didn't ruin anything for your girlfriend (the one who matters), you ruined it for her mom, who is mad because you seemingly detracted from her shine. If it came from your girlfriend OP, then simply explain that if getting double the love, double the sentiment, and double the gift, then its on her. If can't appreciate that you even got her something, it's her problem, not yours. Good luck.
Can you exchange one for a different gift?
Is the thought that counts man. At least you actually tried to get her a gift
I got my moms bf a present in his bday, but when my moms bday came by I didn't get her anything and I've done this 2 years in a row. She ruins everyone's birthday , so I ruined hers by not giving her one. Haahaha bitch
Sounds like she's very spoiled
Is, is your girlfriend 12?
Run...this is the beginning of sociopathy

I don't know why she's pissed. You know her as well as her own mother!
Calling the birthday ruined over this sound very dramatic.
