No. They were instagram filtered, not photoshop.
I would have promptly whipped out my cellphone, snapped a quick pick of my hairy balls, and proceeded to question him as to whether or not he thought they were real.
...ironic, considering you're applying for a job in a field in which many photos that are taken are post-processed in Photoshop or Lightroom or whatever anyway. The way I see it, you can take your craft to a place that is willing to accept you. That's a pile of horseshit. Alternately, show the boss the RAW images, if possible.
I bet he could tell from some of the pictures and from seeing quite a few shops in his time.

That's awful. Maybe you could try to show your portfolio to another member of management? It might not do any good because you have already been rejected, but if your work is so excellent that someone automatically thinks that it has been photoshopped then someone there has to appreciate it.
