Today, I desperately needed a mental health day, so I took the day off work and got some junk food and wine. A few hours later, I'm in hospital with gallstones and pancreatitis, needing an emergency surgery. My mental health day turned into multiple weeks off work, and a lot of pain. FML

Oh man I feel you. I just recently spent almost two months in the hospital due to necrotizing pancreatitis, also due to gallstones (though mine was from a gallstone removal which didn't go 100% as planned). It. Sucked. Ass. I wish you a speedy recovery, though if it's like mine it's gonna take a while to get back up to speed.

On the plus side, you now have several "physical health" vacation weeks! You can use them to take care of your mental health as well!

how many mental health days have you had?

It's ironic that on your "mental health day" you chose to consume a crazy diet.

Well you deserved it for junk food, just as I did. Next time, don't eat too much food at once, especially fatty food. I find straight up cutting portions in half helps.

Gallstones hurt like a bitch. But take several small walks and you'll feel better in no time.

A mental health day does not include junk food and alcohol!!! You are a douche!

Gallstones and pancreatitis don't typically develop to emergency surgery stage from scratch within hours. Perhaps feeling run down from the growing illness was part of why you felt you so desperately needed a mental health day?
