Today, I suffered a mental breakdown. I told my roommates about it, and they decided to throw a very loud party while I was sobbing in my room, unable to sleep. My Xanax prescription ran out, I have no more sick days, and I have to wake up in two hours to work a ten hour day. FML

That sucks I know what it's like to have a mental breakdown it's not fun. Your friends should be more understanding. And to the person who posted get over it and stop complaining you must not suffer from real depression. It's not just being sad it's much worse than that sometimes you can barely get out of bad even with medication. Don't judge other people until you have been through their situation

And THAT's when I stopped reading the comments posted on FMLs. Because it's illegal to show empathy, be sympathetic, or even be just a little less of an ass than you could possibly be on the internet. Because the OP taking Xanax obviously means she's junkie, right? Or the OP crying in her room for one night definitely means that she's not going to do anything about her situation, and just continue to whine about it. Human beings are all the same -- everyone handles breakdowns, depression, and trauma the same way, and people that are a less skilled at coping just suck and are not deserving of a break. Hell, if you're even depressed you're defective. Because we automatically know everything about this girl's life, and can safely conclude that she deserves everything she gets due to her inability to take care of her own life. Right? Yes? Okay. Just so we're ******* clear.

Shit happens. Shouldn't take time off sick at the drop of a hat then should you? Unless you actually have some hideous disease, then I apoligise. But to have no more sick days, you must take a shit load of time off.

So's half the rest of the human population, most people just get on with it. People need to stop bloody whinging, grow up and soldier on, because that's life. Unless you're contemplating suicide, depression is not a reason to stop actually doing what you have to do, take some meds and stop coming on websites just to bloody complain. Grow up, and go to work.

What is with people missing key points to these stories? SHE IS OUT OF MEDICATION!

Intellectualist 0

Maybe, she shouldn't have LET herself run out of meds. I know the effect not taking them has, therefore I am more bloody careful, and if I do run out of meds and feel like shit, I don't come on the internet and whinge about it, because it is MY OWN FAULT.

If you hate complaining that much, you should really just leave this site. I mean, this site's existence depends on whining, what do you expect? You could not visit a worse website if you hate complaining... except maybe MySpace... :P

Intellectualist 0

It's not the whining, it's just that people complain, when they can actually do something about what has 'F'd' their life.

#19, exactly! EVERYBODY that I know who takes Xanax (prescribed or not) is a goddamn junkie. She can't manage her prescription, just like everybody else I know. Because of my experience with people like her, I have NO sympathy whatsoever. Then again, my parents were coke heads who abused Xanax, Seroquel, Vicodin, Lortabs (*sp), and Fentanol patches so I wouldn't have any sympathy, lol. YDI for being a dopehead and not having the cash to go buy some zannies on the street! :)

Unless I'm much mistaken, Xanax is for anxiety disorders anyway, not depression, benzodiazapines aren't so good with depression. ~~~~* The more you know.

catastrophicsock 0

In my experience, when I have an anxiety disorder, it starts as panicking and usually ends with lots and lots of crying. How people panic isn't always the same. I do agree YDI for not keeping up with the meds then complaining, though

Intellectualist 0

Same. I pass out when I have a panic attack, and cry a lot. It wouldn't neccessarily mean I was depressed as well though, if you were on both you'd be on an SSRI such as prozac, or citalopram, because it deals with major depression along with anxiety/stress/paranoia disorders.

you shouldve just told em all to get out, or called the cops on their party saying you were the neighbour, or left

What happens if you run out of sick days, but are actually so sick you can't get into work?

You get in BIIIIG trouble. I think it's just you're only allowed so many "paid sick days", you can probably still miss a day. Because like, in retail most of the time you don't even get sick days, doesn't mean you can't call in sick and get someone to cover you.

Sick worker: I have pneumonia. I won't be feeling well for a month. Company: **** you.

Wow, they threw you a congrats on your mental breakdown party and you didn't even bother to turn up, you bitch.

ydi for using all ur sick days when u aren't sick, not knowing how to get more meds, and still being depressed when a party is happening at your house. lol

Ummm... That's not a 'lol'. You are either a very stupid person for thinking depression is being sad or a very terrible person for thinking that's funny.

jchansfan 0

A lot of people don't seem to grasp the concept of depression. It seems unfathomable to some people that there are reasons to be upset that can't be partied away. I don't get how so many people think anyone would be depressed by choice.

jchansfan 0

You could also argue ignorance is occaisionally the same as stupidity. Not in all cases, but sometimes you can say something taht is both at once. Also, maybe yous houldn't so so high and mighty, as I never said anything of the sort. I made an observation, no where in it did I mention stupidity or intelligence.

Some people have to realise that despite whatever life throws at you, you have to get on with it. Yes actually, I have suffered with depression since I was 8 years old, so that's 10 years, I go to work every day, even when I just pretty much want to sit and cry. Sitting at home feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to make you feel any better, and being paid for doing so is inexcusable. And not really very fair. Life's hard, and yes, you do have to get over stuff, no matter how hard it is. I know how not wanting to get out of bed feels, and just wanting to curl up in a hole and die, every single second of the day, but hey, if I can put on a brave face, I'm pretty sure most other people could too. I'm not saying my life is bad, but yeah, I have serious mental issues that are extremely hard to live with sometimes, but braving it out, however hard, does actually make you feel like you are in more control of your life than bitching and complaining all the time. There are people worse off than you, and there are people better off, but that really doesn't matter, you just need to sort out your own life, stop feeling sorry for yourself and just try and get on with life, no matter what happens.

Dr_Pepper_fml 3

Again, right on! There are three kinds of people in this world when confronted with a ****** up situation: those who don't care those who bitch and moan and those who.... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Depression and Misery are more complicated then you give them credit. Life doesn't revolve around you, you control your actions, but your feelings and circumstances can be an entirely different matter.

Not everybody likes loud parties, depressed or not.

Dr_Pepper_fml 3

#18, you said it--you can control your ACTIONS The OP DECIDED to eat up all of her zannies before her prescription could be renewed.

ah wahhhhh! Yeah, hey Drama Queen...Get up, shut the **** up and go to work. Get paid, get laid!!! Then you'll be in a good mood! ah haa haaa haaaa

If u had a breakdown you need to go to one of those hospitals for troubled teens. In the meantime quit your bitching.
