Lol whoever denies the most people coverage gets a bonus at my dad's work. :) lovely people indeed
This means you were behind in paying your car insurance BEFORE the accident even happened. Expensive mistake.
actually if he was in the hospital for a month and the bill came with a payment date for the same month then the 1st day it was late his insurance was cancelled, you cant be "behind" on insurance payment, they cancell ur shit. but since he was still concious all he had to do was have a friend or relative send in a check for him.
What insurer doesn't (minimally) have a net 30 day payment term? Payments aren't due immediately after the policy invoice is generated. If the OP was insured on the day of the accident, the insurer wouldn't deny the claim for non-payment of policy.
Unless you were in a coma and unable to communicate or otherwise pay your bills... you deserve it. If your conscious you can know about these things and I speak from experience. If you were not conscious you can fight it.
There's no fighting it. She let the policy lapse before the accident She was driving without insurance coverage at the time of the accident.
So, did you learn the lesson?
BRUTAL! Next time, opt for the automatic payment option (direct from your bank account or charged to a credit card).
1) your payment wouldn't be at a collection agency after a single payment, and 2) if your account was in good standing at the time of the accident you'd be covered even if it went into arrears after the fact. YDI for being a deadbeat who doesn't pay their insurance.
Don't expect any sympathy from us Americans. You are screwed just out the cost of a car. Had your accident occurred here, you would have racked up about $500,000 in medical bills and your private health insurance (our only option) would have been cancelled. And you'd be screwed out of the cost of a car, too.
Pretty much what I was going to say. You're not gonna get sympathy from us, because at least your hospital stay won't require you to live off of ramen and instant tea mix for the next few years. Though if your insurance lapsed WHILE you were hospitalized, you could certainly fight it. But my guess is that you let it lapse before you were hospitalized. YDI for not paying your bills. This is what happens when we don't pay for things, you see? They get taken away from us.
#10 your reply made me think of "THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!"
YDI for not paying your bills & then coming on here to whine about it.
Sorry but you should pay your bills next time. Even so, unless you were in a coma you should be having a friend of family member going over to your house to collect mail for you. You totally deserve this.
and you want want sympathy from people here? you're an idiot. you insurance ran out before the accident and for it to go to collection means you were overdue more than one payment. You think everyone on here is as stupid as you and will believe your BS story?
