Today, I was denied food stamp assistance. Apparently, you need to work 20 hours a week while being a full time student to qualify or have a work study. I was recently suspended from my work study for calling off because my aunt died, and if I worked 20 hours a week, why would I need food stamps? FML

Today, I was yet again denied food stamps. They think I make $1000 a week with only 25 hours a week. Each time I have to apply, they say, "We get that number from your pay stubs." They don't understand that those are four separate weeks. I'm sure it's illogical for a part time bagger to make $40 an hour before taxes. FML

Today, I found out that I was denied for work study eligibility by my college. I went to my financial advisor to ask why. It wasn't my grades or attendance. Apparently my father makes too much money for me to get a job at the school. My dad was fired 3 months ago and has been out of work since. FML

Today, my kids and I starved during the holidays because of the incompetent case workers at the food stamp office. I was denied because according to them, I make $1200 a week of unemployment. They put what I make monthly as weekly on their end. Their apology? “Sorry, you have to apply again.” FML

Today, after I felt bad for living off food stamps and government assistance so I could be home with my kids after their dad died, I decided to go to school and get a career to support them. Now that I’m working, I feel bad for not having much time to spend with them. I can’t win. FML

Today, my Food Stamp application was denied because my income is apparently “too high”. I pay $1800 in rent and water, $130 for the phone and internet bill, $400 on credit cards, $150 for electricity, and $120 on car insurance. Nice to know they expect me to eat with $50/month. FML

Today, my time-off request was denied because I'd said on my application that I have “open availability.” This is normally true, except my mother passed away and I need to travel to go to her funeral. I attempted to appeal, but ended up fired for “misleading” the company by “lying on a job application.” FML

Today, I got an email stating that my scholarship request was denied, 51 days after applying with no response. I'm now forced to drop-out from my college degree because I ran out of money, and I've been unsuccessful at finding a job for two years either, thanks to Covid. FML

Today, I received a series of rejection letters from jobs, one after the other. Last night, I stayed up into the wee morning hours to apply to campus jobs I'm not qualified for, because I was classified as a part-time student due to an administrative error. FML

Today, my boss got mad at me because I told her that I wouldn't be able to work two days out of the week, due to college classes. She then cut back my hours so much that I now only work one day a week. I got the job in the first place to pay for my college classes. FML

Today I was fired from my job. They fired me because they couldn't work around my college schedule. The only reason they hired me was because they were looking for college students and without a job I can't go back to school. FML

no you don't!!! I'm California and i have food stamps,the only requirements needed are if you're 21 or younger live by yourself, unless ure 22 or older u can live with ur parents(akward) and have no money savings,accounts etc.,

This makes me sick. Why would i need to work 20 hours? I go to college full time and pay for it by working 3rd shift 30 hours a week. you think that is bad there are people who have it way worse. and "your life is ******" cause you get denied food stamps cause mommy and daddy cut you off and you don't wanna work 20 hours a week? your a joke to society and should never het any kind of aid for being a selfish asshole cause people like me who work for my money get some taken out each time to pay for moochers like you.

All you negative ******* who say OP should just suck it up: You realize that people can only work and study for so many hrs per day because of that thing called sleep/eat/shit/wash clothes/commuting. Also, no wonder families go to shit everywhere when you're not even supposed to be able to go to a dear family members funeral.

I'm 22, and live in Seattle... While I was in school, the job I had was HORRIBLE! I was lucky to get 3 hours a WEEK, and homeless. I applied for food stamps and was told the same thing. I was actually told to apply again when I got a full-time job that starts at 13.50 an hour... because I'd need them then right? I know how you feel. I hate that there are people out there that DO have the money for food and everything they need, and still get help when the people that REALLY need it, are snubbed! keep your head up!

Dude i live in king county. i have no clue how youd get denied food stamps....when i was homeless, i had no job, no nothing at all and i got $200/month. i have a job now and paying rent and i still get $107/month.

because I was going to Pima, which requires a high school diploma or GED for admissions. They told me that because of THAT I had to work at least 20 hours a week. I may not have been able to get a place to live off 20 hours a week, but I would have been able to afford food. Now I work too much to get food stamps but have to pay rent and student loans... leaving about $20 a month for food... still doesn't effing work... stupid lazy people!!!

probably cause 20 hours a week isn't alot? that pays for gas basically. they want you to do something with your life instead of sit around and get free food every month basically

You probably study receptionist whatever. This is a college student who studies something like medicine, or something else important and that requires brain power and will help your poor children somehow. Be appreciative. Not everyone can suck whatever you do to get through studies and not everyone studies at community rubbish colleges like you.
