It's not a cult, I swear

Today, my parents threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't agree to convert to their new brand of Christianity. This is a day after they ranted at me about how I should speak my mind more and not let myself be controlled by other people. FML

That's sad when a personal belief causes relatives to disown you. :(

It's amazing how people just blindly believe every stupid thing they hear without doing their own research. If I had a dollar for every negative thing I hear about Islam, I'd be richer than the Saudi royal family...

Oh lord. I don't know where you live, but over here it's waaaaay to late to be going into how I perceived the connotation of your post; I probably just misread it, though in the past I've also interpreted some of your posts in a less-than-positive-way... (Though I guess in this case I wasn't the only one? Not that really means anything in the grand scheme of things.) I don't know; I'm going to bed and going to try again in the morning.

@noor. as a nun isn't it kinda blasphemy to consort with Islamic people? (I'm not trying to be rude to Islamic people its a joke BTW)

You can. You can let people control you, there lost free will. Though, I'm not so sure that we have actual free will. But as we said let's skip the whole argument on this.

It seems like when parents want their kids to stand up for themselves, they really mean to stand up to anyone who isn't them. That's completely unfair; I'd be working on being able to move out the instant I could!

You are living in their house. You must worship their God. When you are in rome act like a roman.

This kind of thinking is why we don't like fundies in our government, really pisses me off when they think they should be the parent of everyone else.

You have following options: 1. Move out. 2. Pretend to convert to their religion. 3. Convert to their religion. 4. Reason with them and make them change their mind. #4 is the most difficult.

I have to say I feel for OP because I grew up in a church family with a deacon father and they get pissed off because when they insult other religions I start pointing out the flaws of theirs.
