It's not a cult, I swear

Today, my parents threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't agree to convert to their new brand of Christianity. This is a day after they ranted at me about how I should speak my mind more and not let myself be controlled by other people. FML

That's sad when a personal belief causes relatives to disown you. :(

It's amazing how people just blindly believe every stupid thing they hear without doing their own research. If I had a dollar for every negative thing I hear about Islam, I'd be richer than the Saudi royal family...

Lie until you can move out because no one should be able to force their beliefs on you.

Just go along with it until you move out, then break the news to them.

Hypocrites are stupid and lack memory. Just go atheist and if they kick u out, thats child abuse or something.

Not quite child abuse, though legally (where I live), a parent cannot kick their child out if that child is still a minor. Legally at least. I dunno if Id want to fight my way back into a house that gave me the boot.

Tell them to stop being such idiots and explain to them that they are being unbelievable hypocrites about this. Your parents are crazy.

Wait how can God force you to have free will if it's free will?

No need to be rude, 41! The rest of the comment was relevant, and he wasn't going off on a tangent.

Currently I'm not Christian with super christian parents. I keep it to myself because I know my mom will shove it down my throat until I "convert".

Religions and opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and they all stink except for mine!

Its nice to see that unconditional love as a parent really means "I think of you as my pet and servant, behave and do as I tell you and I may give you a treat. Disagree with me and I will ruin your life." In a few generations there probably is going to be a large percentage of the population coming out as atheist or agnostic, they currently choose to identify themselves as christians or muslims in order to prevent falling out with family or even intimidation and murder in the more batshit fundamental communities. My uncle decided to come out as gay after my grandmother died, though I have mixed feelings about it since he had a family before that.

Real rock and a hard place, OP :( If you're in school, talk with a counselor about your legal rights and options (especially if you're a minor). See if you can live with friends or other family who are also shocked at how your parents are behaving. Don't keep quiet about this; try to get all the help you can. Best wishes from one whose family also went off the religious deep end.
