It's not a cult, I swear

Today, my parents threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't agree to convert to their new brand of Christianity. This is a day after they ranted at me about how I should speak my mind more and not let myself be controlled by other people. FML

That's sad when a personal belief causes relatives to disown you. :(

It's amazing how people just blindly believe every stupid thing they hear without doing their own research. If I had a dollar for every negative thing I hear about Islam, I'd be richer than the Saudi royal family...

I can't even tell my own parents that I'm atheist because I'm afraid of shit like this. Religion is not a bad thing but stuff like this is why I don't hang out with a lot of religious people.

Parents NEVER consider themselves "other people" . They believe that they will always be on a pedestal in your eyes, and anything less...well that's just not acceptable. FYL Sorry.

Ppl saying to OP to move out it might not be so easy to do that his parents could still hound him/her even after that. While I'm an atheist I'll admit religion has done something for society in a way however it is also a great way of brainwashing people into complete obedience. Ppl like OP help reinforce that idea because they are forcing their beliefs on to others to earn brownie points to an invisible man in the sky. Debates about religion can be possible but not when it involves shoving it down a persons throat its like a penis in that way you can have it and be proud of it but doesnt mean you should force it down another persons throat

What does "create their own breed of Christianity" mean? Did they create their very own domination, or a creepy new cult of some sort? Either way OP, your parents seem to be a bit crazy, sending mixed messages like that. I hate when parents do that, it's so confusing!
