Jesus saves

Today, I found out that shutting off the heat in the rental property my parents owned was a bad idea. The water froze and the pipes burst, causing the whole kitchen ceiling to fall down. The water ruined the wood floors and the appliances. I turned off the heat to save money. FML

it's perfectly fine to shut off the heat but you need to remember to shut off the water and drain the pipes. FYI for future reference, though I don't think they'll ever let you be responsible for it again.

Sorry, but you kind of deserve it. Everyone knows that you never turn off the heat during the winter for that exact reason.

Well OBVIOUSLY not everyone. God seems to have missed a few when he passed out COMMON SENSE.

When I went to work for a Japanese company which had just opened a branch in Illinois, I had to explain to my Japanese boss that we do not, under any circumstances, turn the office heat off at weekend, for this very reason. He had never experienced truly cold weather, and had no idea the pipes would freeze. That said, OP, YDI in spades for being a dumb-ass, especially if you're a NATIVE of New Jersey.

ok that definitely wasn't a reply to either of the previous posts. Is the fml server screwing up the replies again?

kay if that " really" happens I'm pretty Shure you won't be on the computer
