As an Army wife I want to say how sad this story and stories like this make me. Just know that there ARE faithful military wives that stand by their men through thick and thin. Keep your chin up and keep an eye out for a good woman, they exist. Thank you for serving our country as well.
I am an Air Force wife who just recently lost my husband. His intentions for joining were partly the same reason, to provide a better life for me (but really for us). He was a great man and I never once overstepped my boundaries or disrespected our relationship because we made the ultimate vow to each other, we got married. I want to say thank you for serving our country because not everyone can do it. This is really something sad to hear about but I do agree with others maybe she wasn't ready to be married if she enjoys the single life. Only you and her know what is going on in your relationship, follow your heart, and things will get better!
I'm a 23-year-old Navy wife, and I would never dream of abandoning my husband. He joined for the same reason you did, and so he could make something of himself. I'm sorry your wife did such a thoughtless, selfish thing. I wish you all of the best and I hope you find a good woman who will stand by you! Thank you for serving our country :)
Top 10 things i've learned from being in the Navy: 1.) Life sucks 2.) Relationships will not work 3.) Life Sucks 4.) Working 168 hours a week is not enough 5.) Your pay is shit 6.) Life sucks 7.) Everyone above you is mentally uncapable of tying their own shoes 8.) Relationships will not work 9.) Life sucks 10.) In reality, you should probably thank Jodie Your post should read. "Today, I'm still in the Navy. FML." People will understand.
You still don't whine as much as the families of the Iraqi women and children you're going to murder are gonna whine, child-killer.
Wow, really? Child-killer? So what; the military exists purely for the sake of killing innocent women and children? Grow up and get a life. And for the record, most of the civilian casualties now are the result of Sunni/Shia, Iraqi on Iraqi violence. Still not convinced...check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kyN0TKPVGA&feature=player_embedded Otherwise, take that ignorant crap elsewhere.
Your right, it does not, but it certainly serves as a counterpoint to the "child-killer" crap. Look up all the targeting footage you can on youtube or any other video sight on the web, you will not find one involving the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians, especially children. In fact, cement bombs have become much more efficient at hitting mobile mortars, technicals, and other targets because they use only kinetic energy to destroy a target, thus not damaging the surrounding mosque, cemetery, and or nearby school used as cover by insurgents. By the way, arienh, I am looking forward to your rebuttal.
And it's people like you, Franc28, that make the military look bad. They certainly aren't over there to kill innocent people, but unfortunately, it happens. Talk to someone who has served a couple of tours in Iraq. They have seen things that you only see in your nightmares. They risk their lives and their sanity so you can sit there and call them child-killers. You better hope the military never has to choose who stays/goes/lives/dies, because I know several who would choose a grisly passing for you for the comment you made.
Bogwandis, while I do agree with you, stop using ignorant phrases like 'They risk their lives and their sanity so you can sit there and call them ...' etc. It's really dumb, because if the army wasn't in Iraq at the moment almost everyone who commented here could still comment. There's no 'stop free speech button' in Iraq the army is trying to defend.
are you seriously calling this person (and those in the military) a child-killer? Really? Are you sure, because it's the Taliban ---THE PEOPLE WE'RE FIGHTING --- who are training children to be suicide bombers. The same debate went on during the Viet Nam conflict. The Veit Cong would strap bombs on children, those children would walk up to the American soldiers and hug them, which would set off the bombs. When the brass realized what was going on, soldiers were instructed to tell the child to stop in Vietnamese. If the child didn't stop, the soldier would shoot. People didn't pay attention to the fat that te children were being used for suicide bombers, just the fact that they got shot.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I survived 8+ years in the Navy, one failed marriage and several failed relationships. I hope you find someone who treats you better than your ungrateful wife.
