That's harsh, we get 5% off for handing in essays up to 24 hours late and it increases in percent each day it's late.
Half credit??? Holy shit that's harsh for being only one day late.
If you'd still want a decent grade, I hear Bow Chikki bow wown in the background. I am amazed at the level of carelessness of some students. You wait till the last day of submission, then you "forget" to take it to college/University, then you find its in a different binder (whatever that means, like if it's in a different binder it's not my problem, who put it there? Who is supposed to remember it's there?) Why don't you have your work in an email/Dropbox/onedrive/pen drive/Google drive??? If you had it there, all you'd have to do is print it again at the library. Yes, you could be juggling 2 jobs and 3 kids alone, but you are also responsible for the course you signed up for. The professor is just going by the book. Imagine it from his/her point.. 30-120 students in class, half of them giving some or the other lame ass excuse wanting an extension. He never gets a break and is marking assignments and term end exams even on weekends cuz people don't give their work on time. He has no life? is he not entitled to one? Did you think about that? Nope. Only think about your self. FYL, YDI.

Jesus Christ, check everything you're carrying before assuming things are missing. RIP credit thanks to lack of double checking.
That's pretty unfair, you did the work and the idea of university is to be recognized for your ability, not awarded a grade based on rules. He could have given you a means of submitting it (email, drop it into his letter box) and not punished you for a mistake. Sometimes I sigh at the logic some universities / professors have...
