Productivity at all costs

Today, I got yelled at for calling in sick to work. My boss said, "I still came to work when I had pneumonia. You'll live." Uh… that's not impressive or motivating at all. That's downright stupid. FML

Bosses are gonna boss. Their brain is too primitive to understand anything except capitalism.

It's not only stupid, it's also unsocial, mean and should be illegal.

Not if you're stuck with the PTO (personal time off) scam, where your sick days and vacation are all in one bucket. Don't waste a vacation day if you can go in sick, isolate yourself there and then do next to nothing. It's perverse, but I didn't make the rules.

I mean, I did try coming in with pneumonia once under that logic, but 1) I actually felt fine aside from hacking up my lungs, and that's not that different from a bad asthma day, and 2) I got kicked out after five minutes because I was contagious. So maybe don't do it if your boss can hear you coughing...

Yeah, like my coworker who bragged about coming in with strep throat - and then gave it to everyone else in the office. Then we all got in trouble when we sensibly stayed home.
