When I was on holiday in the US once and someone put this into perspective... There are a ton of Countries in the world, and many more influential than others... Very hard to expect everyday people to know about all the Countries of the world, so rather ignorance than anything else...

I worked with a man 47+yrs old that didn't know it was an actual country. He also didn't know that the Tasmanian Devil and Dodo Bird are/were real animals. I kinda wonder how he graduated grade school...?

How fun for him and his kids. I remember how delighted my American friend was to find out that Tasmanian Devils were a real thing, even if they don't spin. :)
