my friends parents invite us all over for their daughters birthday to hang out and remember her, when she died 7 years ago, they do it every year.

Okay, I get you'd never get over it fully... but a BIRTHDAY PARTY? That's just weird. The parents need legitimate help to move on as much as possible, because that's just not healthy.
