MAKE IT STOP

Today, I learned how to play "Happy Birthday" on the guitar, just to have my friend tell me that my voice sucks, and that I needed to stop immediately. FML

I forgot how crucial a good voice is to playing guitar. reminds me how I need a clean bathroom if I want to bake cookies.

Well, thats what friends are for, am I right?: the ability to make you feel utterly shitty, then laugh at you while youre down, then somehow be the one to pull you back on your feet and help you up... Maybe thats just me projecting. Either way, dont feel bad; now that youve learned the guitar part, you could always try some online voice guidance tutorials or something. And likely, your friend was just being awkward about hearing you sing, in any case.

Forreal that sucks. She could've been slightly nicer but hey, at least it was your friend and not some stranger. We all have different talents. Maybe just stick to guitar playing?

That was NOT your friend! Never will be, either.

A real friend would lie to you potentially embarrassing you? The friend could have said it nicer but is still their friend

Well that is better than lying and saying you're good only for you to embarrass yourself playing in front of many people...

Honestly, that's how you get those delusional singers on those singing TV shows. "But my friends say I sound great!"

It's probably the wrong key for you. Try either using a capo or downtuning the guitar a semitone. It's actually quite rare that someone can't sing.

At least your friend is completely honest with you. They potentially saved you from embarrassment in the future
