Today, maintenance came to fix the constantly beeping alarm system near my apartment. They changed it from beeping on-and-off to one never-ending beep, similar to the sound of my sanity flat-lining. FML

I'm sure there are laws forbidding that, make complaints through the correct channels, keep copies of the paperwork.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe in a few weeks' time, they'll go and repair it again... To make it louder. And when the neighbors come back, they'll think their house was broken into because their alarm system was changed... This could end up badly for the OP.

1) can you access that speaker's cable and 2) do you have wire cutters ? Seriously though if there's a short in the system or a circuit isn't completed it'll trigger the alarm (tamper proof fail safes). It could also be that a door or window needs to be closed before the alarm is activated. (some sensors detect disturbances in the air particles - like car alarms). The keypad will show there's an error. Either rats chewed the cabling or the circuit board is damaged. This really shouldn't take more than 2 hours to fix (depending on the type of building it's installed in)

OP I googled it - you're pretty much screwed. As far as I can tell the legal amount of time an alarm can sound is 20min. After that it should only display a flashing light. Problem is most alarms will have cycles. Best to contact a laywer and/or police officer because not all states have the same laws. It should have a battery backup, which is why I suggested cutting the speaker's cable instead ;)

I live with that all the time. From IED's but doc says its just tinnenitus. Didn't have it before but that don't matter also was seen for torn ligaments in my knee from it as well. Doctor says its because I smoke.
