+1 of your boss for sending you home before the rest gets sick as well
"Last week" when you called in...Damn if you are sick every week you need a doctor or a better freaking excuse! Unprofessional and unacceptable period, end of story, you would have already been fired on my watch.
What if they called in sick on Friday with the flu or something, and then went to work this week, only for the boss to find out they're sick? The flu can last for more than a weekend, you know.
Most people don't get sick for just a day or two, especially if the OP had a "nasty cold". It's very likely the OP was sick for several days.
#26 you. are. a. DUMBASS
your watch sucks balls, and you should consider getting a new one. |the kid|
youre a lucky one if you only get sick for a couple of days. Did you know the average flu lasts nine to ten days? And lucky for me, i have inner ear problems as well so when i get a nasty enough cold, like i have at the moment, the exsess fluid in my sinus blocks my ears up and they get infected, which in turn cause migranes and glandular swelling, so even after the cold clears up, im still feeling like my head is a lead balloon. Of course, at the moment, i have all of these things, and have had them since friday. So sorry if i cant go to work. Youre an ignorant arsehole you know that? FU.
26 - have you never had a cold or something? cause, colds generally last a week or two....
#138 Oh cool so because you have it worse than most people they aren't allowed to say they're sick if they have the flu or a cold and if they do they're ignorant because you think so? Great logic you have there.
156, I get the feeling 138 is the OP.
Your boss hates you. Which is very unprofessional and unacceptable.
your boss sounds like a real douche
stop complaining on FML it's just unacceptable and unprofessional...(:
at my job we get written up if we call in sick and can't get someone to cover our shift so I just go to work sick and get sent home.
Well if you had called in sick "last week" and you were still sick this week you should of just gone to the doctor and gotten a note to show how long you were sick instead if going to work
If the OP has a "nasty cold" than going to the doctor could just be a major waste of money. There is nothing the doctor can do for you if you have a cold. They will just tell you to rest and drink plenty of fluids. I can understand wanting to get the note so work absences will be excused but some people don't really have money to waste.
a) i dont have a doctor to go to and/becuase b) i cant afford to go to the doctor. I dont understand how people dont get it that some people just cant afford these things -_- none of my bosses get it either. then again, they get a bazillion times more than me... *sigh*
Well sadly you're right that not everyone can afford to do that and yeah, I forget because even when my parents weren't working or had sucky jobs we had Medical. Doctors treat you with a lot less respect when you have that kind but you are still seen. I don't know. I've gotten off without a doctors note before by just calling in with enough time for someone else to get my shift and by keeping my bosses up to date with how I'm feeling. Maybe I've just been lucky to have understanding bosses. Sucks OP.
Yaqui - doctors can't help everything. especially colds, nothing helps them go away. there's stuff to help relieve symptoms, but most of it makes you drowsy and they still tell you not to go to school or work. so even if she could afford to go to the doctor, they wouldn't be much help. I wouldn't say it's a waste of time and money like the other person, since they'd still give her something for relief, which helps a little so you aren't so miserable, but it wouldn't help with work.
I wasn't saying that the doctor will be able to make OP's illness go away but that maybe they would be able to provide proof that OP was ill with something that would warrant them more than a couple of days off. Most of my jobs have involved children or restaurants so we are always told to never show up sick so we don't get the kids/customers sick. It sucks that OPs bosses care more about "professionalism" than their employees' well-being. I don't think I would last long there.
A lot of places, especially for adults, either dont give out excuses (the docs) or accept them (places of work or college) sure it sucks, but if its a cold you can LOOK at the person and tell
