How about instead of complaining, you learn to count. After all, it is a prerequisite to your job as a cashier.
Move to Canada, problem solved!
YDI!! Technically, what you did is THEFT.
OP Here- (New account to comment) I had been working long shifts all week, every single day. I am typically a happy cashier, friendly to customers, and apologetic when I make mistakes. I'm only human, I'm not perfect. After the lady calmed down, I reached into my own pocket and gave her a penny. I apologized numerous times for her to storm out the door. I hadn't meant to short her the penny, it wasn't my plan. I got confused while counting since she had been standing there complaining about our store the whole 3 minutes she was at my register. Thank you to all who are telling me to keep my head up~
Same problem at my job! They act as if that penny is gonna solve all their problems. I've had a customer make me print out his recipes 3 times so he can make sure I wasn't robbing him. Don't they understand that it's an expensive restaurant?
65-- Wow. You're a douchebag.
remember thats all the action that lady can look forward to
I understand perfectly. I work in the ghetto where people complain that our already discounted items were too expensive. I work at a pizza place where the pizzas are 5.55
Oh my god, this happened to me before. This lady was counting the change I had given her (I worked at an ice cream shop) all the way to her car and shut her car door. She then got out of her car and waited in line again to complain that I was short by one penny. She went through that much trouble to complain about a penny that I ended up having to take out of my tip jar to give her.
I know the pain. it sucks ass but people like that are all over the place.

And she gave you her two cents worth. Figures.
Some people really need to change their attitude.
