Bullshit. The banking apps that offer deposit that way tell you to keep the check for at least a week or more just in case it doesn't work.
Dumbass. You rip the check after you have the money.
You deserve it in this case. You should have waited a few days for everything to clear before ripping it up. There are some cases where they will need to see the cheque for whatever reason.
The instructions also usually say to wait 30 days before disposing of it.
