I know how you feel, I found out that they were no longer going to be needing me, from prospective new nannies. Then I found out the reason why they were looking for a new one. One; They had to be able to drive two: they must not be in school....so I clearly did not qualify for either at the time. which is a bummer because they paid so well

Show it anywayI had a similar experience to this. Found an ad for my nannying position... on the website that my employer had used to find ME in the first place. My resignation email began with a screen dump of the ad.
omg!! what did they say in reply to your letter?
I can't believe that no one is considering that the OP is simply a bad nanny. I mean seriously, maybe she wasn't very good at the job, or not well suited to the kids. If the parents feel the kids aren't being well taken care of, they have every right to replace her with someone else. As for using the new nanny calling as the means to fire the old one, it just seems farfetched. Maybe the new woman called a day early. I feel for you losing your job, but really everyone talking about how the OP should have shit in her bath tub or told the new nanny the position was filled are just being bitter and stupid.
It may well be the case that the nanny wasn't very good at her job, but the employer should have told her she was going to be replaced. It's fairly unprofessional to fill a position that isn't even empty. I doubt that the employer had the new nanny call then deliberately to inform the old nanny either.
I disagree, 29. Work must keep going, the children need a nanny so you need to find a replacement before letting the other go. what if you can't find a replacement? The kids are still there :P
My stepdad had that happen twice...he's IT...the first time he found an ad in the newspaper for someone who could work the program that he helped write. The second time, because he has access to emails and such and was doing a cleaning of the system, happened to come across an email talking about getting rid of him. Either way, it all sucks.
Lololololol when it said answer the phone for my "boss" at home, I thought it was the op's wife

That's one way to fire someone without dealing with the initial reaction... Get them to take your messages when you already know one of those messages will be from the replacement. xD Sorry to hear about your job though, srsly.
