OCD FML

Today, I was convinced I hadn't locked up properly when leaving work, and almost had a panic attack at the train station. I went all the way back into work, to find I had in fact locked up properly. It made me nearly two hours late home. This isn't the first time I've done this. FML

You guys, it's not Alzheimer's or OCD or anything. All humans experience the phenomenon known as douchebag brain. Douchebag brain is the main source of short term forgetfulness, for example: you walk into a room and immediately don't know what you are looking for, or, it makes you always remember to lock your car (or in this case, business) but can't remember if you actually did it or not. We all get it guys...

Better safe than sorry OP. I'd rather be late going home than being jobless. I voted FYL but this isn't a FYL or a YDI because you did the right thing and took the extra time to make sure the place was locked up properly. So I just say good job

It sounds like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This affects a lot of people but many people suffer with it for 10 years or more before going to see someone. it can really affect your life (and it sounds like it is) so I suggest you see a doctor or psychiatrist to get some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and therapy sessions. They might put you on tablets for anxiety - i am on some and they work really well. Hope it goes alright! :)

Same thing has happened to me about different things. It is so scary thinking you didn't do something when you really did.

I know your pain. It's nice to be in management for the experience but it can be nerve wrecking. I have gone back so many times once I even set off the alarm and had to stay and explain to the police, lucky it was an officer who knew I was the manager. Better safe than sorry!

Just write down on a piece of paper if you have done it or not when you leave!

Too bad when the same people rob the store every time you've been the one closing. Now everyone thinks you're stealing things. The trick is to lock the door once you're done with the joint.

I have the exact same problem, the way i deal with is when i lock up i bite my finger enough to leave a small mark, that way later when i get paranoid i look at my finger and if a mark si there it means i did lock up.
