Ouch

Today, my girlfriend's "sheltered" 15-year-old niece is sharing our tiny home. Shortly after she arrived, I started to pass a kidney stone. I've had 3 hours of vomiting and cold-sweating while pissing acidic blood and a stone in absolute agony. The niece is "traumatized". FML

Aw, poor thing. I've passed a kidney stone while I've had a kidney infection. It hurts like hell. Sorry man. I hope it passes quickly :(

I'm questioning whether or not you do, since you're most likely referencing his questionable use of quotation marks, rather than question marks.

Willing to bet her trauma ended up on her Facebook page and is looking for support! The hell with it tho OP, and hope you don't hafta go through that excruciating pain ever again!

Oh come on, when I was 15, I was watching beheadings on liveleak like it was water. I hate it when people shelter kids. I'm not going to bend my ass over backwards to prevent your special snowflake from seeing the real world. OP don't feel bad about this. That kid needed to see it. They can't stay in their protective bubble forever, it only ruins their chance at success later in life. I hope you do get better though and I am sorry you went through that!

Careful everyone, don't cut yourself on #17s edge.

Look out everyone, a badass showed up on the horizon.

Did the same thing around that age. Idk if it's a sign of strength or crazy that we can watch "shock" or gore sites without being affected emotionally really. Certain other things I'll ball my eyes out andf feel I need therapy, but that I feel nothing. Like it's horrible, but emotions don't directly do anything for or against the event.

I don't have children..I don't want children..But I'd rather have my child sheltered than have one who likes to watch beheadings. That sounds almost (or maybe even actually) sociopathic. A sheltered child will likely eventually see the world though it may create turmoil and drana for them (and maybe others) as they are inprepared. Sociopathy is not going to go away. It could only be hopefully controlled so the child won't be potentially malicious (which they may or may not see as malicious due to their mental illness). People who intentionally go to watch actual gore are the people who NEED to be sheltered. You are basically telling parents everyone to monitor their children because -who knows? - they could be doing ****** up shit like watching beheadings. That is not bad ass or edgy either. it's crazy. and this coming from someone who is technically "crazy". So that's saying a lot.

That neice will be in for a rude awakening one of these days smh

sounds like you gave her a dose of reality. better for her anyway, being "traumatized" builds character. she wouldn't be able to make it through life the way she is now

You have my sympathy! The only time I ever threw up from pain was from a kidney stone. Most kidney stones are calcium. If you take a calcium supplement switch to a calcium citrate form of calcium supplements and reduce soda drinking. Lemonade is a healthier option and the citric acid in lemonade helps prevent kidney stones.

that sucks for both of you. much more for you, but she probably thought you were gonna die and that's pretty scary.

I just passed my first ever kidney stone. I hope you get better soon!

i feel for you. i had that a few years ago. i never want that shit again.
