Today, on Christmas Eve, as I was getting my car loaded for the holiday rounds to the in-laws and parents, my car decided now was the time to break down. I recently put in over $1000 fixing it. FML

Everyone feels like breaking down when visiting the in-laws and your car is no exception.

Well to know if it was justified, we'll need to know what kind of car it is.

I hope you're going to call that repair shop and complain! This happens too often.

Cars are machines and machines break. Especially when they're not well maintained. Even if you just put money into fixing one issue, many more may still arise.

It's still pretty common, in my own experience, for mechanics to charge hundreds or thousands of dollars to fix a problem which then turns out not to be fixed at all. Or they break something else in the process. Complaints are one way of trying to right the problem.

The one FML that shouldn't have a You Deserve It button . . .

I'm hoping mine breaks down so I don't have to go to the in-laws

I feel your pain. My truck broke down on me as I was driving it last week at 3 am. I'm pretty much looking at buying a new car at this point. ;__;

This happened to my boyfriend the other day while he was doing his last minute shopping. Both of us had to get out of the car and push it back into a parking lot. Moral of the story: don't wait to the last minute to do your shopping or your car will crap the bed when no mechanics are available. FYL

When this happened to me, I just sell the car, not worth fixing it over and over again.
