Maybe your painting wasn't as good as you thought. He probably worked hard on his project as well. No need to criticize him because you lost.

That Dickface you called might of put all his effort into it. Don't critique other people's art if you don't know the behind story of it.

Sometimes the people who judge art have horrible taste. Don't let it discourage you. Keep improving your skills, and do it for the enjoyment. Eventually, you can become a success, and that is better than some crappy art competition.

As an artist myself...I feel your pain...it's never fair in the art world unfortunately! Especially with this modern art stuff...I visited a museum and one artist had covered a canvas in a huge thick layer of neon green acrylic paint...then stabbed the canvas a few times in the middle...gave it an abstract title and now people are paying to see this...uhhh lol

Same thing happened to me in my art class. The guy actually admitted to using his sister's project she had done in 5 minutes, a year before.

It only gets worse once you're in school for art. The bullshitters have totally taken over. If you were smart, you enrolled in college instead of university. I hope they actually teach you techniques, unlike my shit ass program.
