Today, I discovered that my boyfriend was planning on proposing to me tomorrow. I found out after receiving a couple of a dozen texts from friends and relatives bitching me out for not telling them. Apparently, my dad thought it would be appropriate to make the announcement for me on his Facebook page. FML

Today, my dad has gone to two different relatives’ weddings in two different states this month alone. I also found out about his big birthday celebration, his BBQ and his trip to Vegas. I saw it all on Facebook. I’ve not been invited to anything, and he never visits me. I live an hour away. FML

Today, my father contacted me for the first time in years to ask about my upcoming wedding, and possibly walking me down the aisle. He claimed the only reason he left was because he thought I'd be gay. I am. FML

Today, I found out my grandfather died via Facebook, because apparently both my father and my aunt think posting a status about it immediately rather than calling family is the thing to do. FML

Today, I found out that my dad recently created a Facebook account for himself. So I friended him. He refuses to accept my friend request. He did, however, accept my sister's. FML

Today, I Googled my father, who I haven't seen in 3 years. The first website link was his obituary. When I confronted my mom about it, she said, "Oh, didn't I tell you?" and walked off. FML

Today, my elderly dad learned how to use Facebook. He now spends most of his time messaging me about his meals, his bowel movements and his foot fungus. He's now learning how to use Skype. FML

it's pretty important information to not share, but apparently you don't really keep up contact with your dad anyway if you haven't talked to him or checked his fb in a month. his life goes on even when you're not watching. also if it's his current status update it may have just happened and he didn't get around to calling you yet.

Maybe they did talk and he didn't say anything? I know that I dont often check my fathers facebook because I talk to him on the phone once or twice a week, but there has been an occasion where he didn't tell me things and I found out through FB.

Who says he isn't planning YOUR wedding? Arranged wedding and all that, i you knew in advance you could've run so he decided not to inform you. Now that you've found out you can still get away.

I am pretty sure this will happen to me too. My dad has been dating some woman for several months and never told me. She was just at his apartment when I went to visit him. They're even planning to go to Paris together. I guess he just assumes I'll figure these things out on my own.
