find a new job, or at least put in for a transfer. if he snaps that easily you don't want to be around him.
Change your pitch maybe? Or see if you can get a different supervisor if possible
while that sucks for you and I hope you have some PTO saved up, I feel sorry for your boss. I hope he gets the help he needs to be able to be freed from his past.
I don't feel sorry for his boss at all. The fact that he told OP he's lucky he's on medication not only means he's threatened him, it also appears that he actually thinks this is all OP's fault. There's a difference between telling an employee that you're very sorry for your irrational behaviour but it'd be best if he went home early today and acting like THAT.
Maybe you need to move your work space away from your boss, so you can both be in peace.
Wow.. He is crazy
I feel bad for both you and the boss.
Maybe it's time to invest in one of those Darth Vader voice changers, unless your boss' name is Luke. Might be time to look for employment elsewhere.
i just died when i read that
There is no excuse for that in the work place. The guy who put me in a mental institution for 3 months is a coworker at my place of employment, and I have yet to provide any reason to him to suggest that I would harm him in anyway Now I am gonna say, sometimes when there are triggers like that it is very hard to control your gut reaction and if the proper therapy never happened in additions to those medications, your boss could potentially snap anyways and it could be very dangerous Just keep your own interests first
On the bright side. You got half the day of work.
Not an ideal work place....

Report him to HR. That's a hostile work environment
Home early? Sounds like extra time to work on your resume. At this rate, it sounds like you're going to need it...
