Today, it's a day before my birthday and I will be turning 14. My grandma died 5 days ago and in Indian culture you aren’t supposed to celebrate for 16 days after a loved one dies. I have dietary restrictions too and can’t eat eggs because of her death, which means I basically can’t have any sweets. FML

Hopefully, your family and friends make up for the delay with a great celebration in 10 days, or so.

You’re an adult, telling this to a child. Please seek a therapist to deal with your grief instead of mocking a literal child on the internet

Wah. My grandpa died ON my birthday. My husband was KIA in Afghanistan and it was three weeks before we could bury him - ON MY DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY because if we didn’t take that day, we’d have to wait another week. You’ll have a lot more birthdays. Your grandma won’t.

Oh no, I forgot you were the only person on the planet and other people can't feel pain. Poor baby. Grow up, OP's 14 and they're talking about something that's affecting them. If you have trauma, post about it so we can see if your life sucks

grow up & stop trauma dumping.

I am sorry you didn't have as long with your grandmother as you could have. They are wonderful wealthy of knowledge and love. While traditions can sometimes suck, we peresever through them and in this case reflect on our time with our loved ones who have passed away. I lost a grandparent right around my 13th birthday too and know it would be better to celebrate with them. So while this is a difficult te.for you, remember it is only a few days of tradition.
