Today, it was my birthday. It was also the only day my family wanted to hold the graveside funeral for my grandmother, who passed last week. FML

First of all, you do not celebrate deaths. You celebrate happy events. Secondly, from a rational point of view, you should give priority to people that are alive. Funerals can be arranged to take place on a certain day, but you cannot choose the date you were born on. Also, I doubt repeating the word '*******' three times in your comment makes it right.

I'm sorry to hear that OP, I had to bury my brother on my birthday too. It will suck, naturally, but fortunately you will be surrounded by family & friends in remembrance of your grandparent & they will help get you through this. Just keep in mind that with a death in the family, they may have forgotten all about your birthday in the midst of intense grief and not a slight against you in the least. And please ignore all of these comments that say you're selfish, it's so rude & poor planning, etc. They obviously have no idea what they're talking about & no clue what you're going through. It's just an unfortunate happenstance. So sorry for your loss.

Awww same thing happened to me. Mine was for my little brother and my parents forgot it was my birthday. But I was totally understanding about it since they went through a lot :(

@102. Regardless of what the rest of the rest of the family is going through, which I do not dismiss, OP's life DEFINITELY sucks. Acknowledging that something sucks for someone does not immediately imply putting blame or judgement elsewhere. Sorry OP, YLS.
