Respect Independence Day!

By unpatriotic - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States - Eugene

Today, my manager made me remove an Eiffel Tower ornament from one of my displays. Not because it didn't look good or match the theme, but because it was "disrespectful" to have it out on the 4th of July. FML

funnily enough, our most famous landmark - statue of liberty - is actually French...

I think your boss is lying. The truth is he caught his wife in an Eiffel Tower and has a bad association with it.

it's people like that who give Americans a bad rep and make the rest of us think they're all idiots.

#129, oh, yeah, they LOVE the French over there. Well, in one province, at least :D

Quebec likes to create laws that oppress English speaking people. (Bill 101, Language police, whining and bitching about how the English oppress them (ironically, its the other way around), Denying the right to go to an English speaking school, Xenophobic, the list goes on)

Eiffel opposed to what she has to say about that.

I came here to scroll through the comments because i've no idea what's so special about 4th of July.

Not only was the Statue of Liberty a gift from the French, we also celebrate America's birthday with the Chinese invention of fireworks. We claim to be the greatest nation in the world, and yet pretty much all of our culture is borrowed from other countries.

You can't put it like that, IMHO, because, the USA is a really really really young country compared to China or France or any other country (save the younger ones). And it's a reason why the USA is a melting pot of different cultures, hence the term 'Nation of Immigrants'.

Do you have any idea how many types of people immigrate here? Different cultures and diversity is why the country is so unique. Give good ol' America some credit. She has some of her bad times and good times as well. Oh and, fireworks are not a type of culture -___-

Didn't the French help them gain independence? It seems pretty disrespectful to completely ignore their help. :P
