Parental fail
If Daughter had a job and the ability to pay these expenses that would be fair as long as she understood that was the deal. But if daughter couldn’t make those payments or Mom didn’t explain those details to daughter then it wasn’t such a great deal for either one. I assume daughter is young if she just got her license. Basically most things need to be agreed on before you just go ahead and do something like this. When I was in college I had enough trouble with the basic expenses of gas and tires along with my other expenses in school. I wouldn’t have been able to cover auto insurance and taxes. Fortunately my Dad covered those things on my car while I was in school. If you knew your daughter couldn’t afford the expenses of a car and you couldn’t afford them either, then you made a serious mistake.
Since OP said he bought the car as soon as his daughter got her license, I assume his daughter is still in her teens, or possibly very early 20's. Therefore, it's unlikely his daughter is financially stable. OP might want to learn the definition of a "white elephant".
or daughter can learn the ability to get up off her ass and start taking some responsibility. wanna be treated like an adult and have adult things? then act like a ******* adult
This is why parents should never buy their kids a car. Co-sign, maybe, like my dad did, but buying them a car outright? Especially if they're a teenager? Absolutely not. And I certainly hope it wasn't a brand new car, either.
