Today, I found out that my mom had read my diary because she was worried. She now knows details about my depression, details about my sex life, such as how I lost my virginity, to whom (I don't have a boyfriend), and what condition I was in at the time (drunk as a duck). She also showed my dad. FML

Today, my dad found and read my diary. Most of the entries were about how my father didn't respect my privacy. Then he phoned my aunt and read her passages from it. FML

Today, I found my long lost diary and curiously read it. What's worse than finding out that your mother read your diary? Finding out that your mother wrote comments in it. FML

Today, my mom found a book of dirty stories I'd written in tenth grade. She then told me that I wrote about things she'd never even thought about, and she's been having sex for years. If that wasn't bad enough, she's taken them in to work to show people. FML

Today, I found one of my mom's old diaries that dated back to my infant days. I couldn't help but read a little. I'm now in great concern over how many times my mom wrote that she wanted to dunk me in the toilet or throw me against a wall. FML

Today, my mom cleaned my room, while doing so she found a very detailed sex book I got from an ex boyfriend as a "gift". For years I had her convinced I was still a virgin, until today. FML

Today, I was helping my mom look for some money she'd misplaced. At my wit's end, I flipped through her diary, in case she'd hidden it between the pages as she has before. Didn't find the money, but I did find out she might well be cheating on my dad. FML

Today, my mom came home drunk and crying, so I tried to comfort her and asked what was wrong. She wasted no time admitting that she'd hooked up with her ex-husband, AKA my dad, but that it'd sucked for her because he has a tiny penis. Thanks, I really needed to know that. FML

Today, as I opened my diary to write a new entry, I noticed that every page had little side notes about what I had written. It had an extra long note on the page where I wrote about losing my virginity in great detail. All of the notes ended with "Love, Mom." FML

Then again wherever the hell your from I guess you all just go bareback on the women then wonder why they keep getting pregnant... c) Confident The mum most likely didn't search through the diary trying to find out what was wrong with her daughter because she probably didn't know there was anything wrong with her anyway, she probably read it out of curiosity

Why is everyone making such a big deal out of her getting drunk and having casual sex? Yeah, its not great to do it everyday all your life, but we only know that she did it ONCE. Almost everyone I know has at least one episode of drinking and casual sex, and statistically speaking, most of us are going to feel depressed at some point. These are not life ruiners. And if he parents are concerned, there are better ways of handling it than by invading her privacy and blindsiding her.

YDI for keeping a diary. What's the point of writing all your secrets in one book so it's easier for people to find out? Besides diaries just encourage self pity.

i really don't understand why everyone is making SUCH a big deal over sleeping with someone when she was drunk. granted that's not the best way to lose your virginity, but whatever. shit happens. and if the girl wants to drink, go for it. no one deserves to be ridiculed over their choice in lifestyle, and no one deserves to be stripped of their privacy like she was. yeah, keeping a diary and not keeping it well hidden was kind of a mistake, but she should be able to write down her thoughts and feelings freely if she needs to. some people can hold everything in, and some people need to write it down or talk it out to feel better about what's going on in their lives. everyone lives their lives differently. deal with it.
