Today, I found out that my mom had read my diary because she was worried. She now knows details about my depression, details about my sex life, such as how I lost my virginity, to whom (I don't have a boyfriend), and what condition I was in at the time (drunk as a duck). She also showed my dad. FML

Dont understand why ppl feel the need to keep a diary. It can only be used against you!

Parents who read their kids diaries need to shove a stick up their ass.

YDI for being a drunken *****. And, seriously, whoismgmt really should have its stupidity purged from this planet. You are what is wrong with America. Allowing a bunch of stupid women to run around, get drunk, screwing the first penis they see, & then 9 months later sue some poor guy for child support AND/or rape because he wanted to get "lucky" with some stupid **** who put herself in a situation, & then after changed her mind.

She lives with her parents. So, who would get stuck taking care of a baby? The parents. Why? Cause you really cant kick the baby out of being born to a drunken ****. & you cant abort it, because it is not its fault, so why should it die because the mom was a ****. Also, whoismgmt, you should have been aborted. Hell, your dad, assuming he even knew you were concieved, shoulda kicked your mother in the gut until you were "aborted".

Ooooo gosh harsh words, funny that considering I'm from a middle class, well off family, I went to public school (which I guess is what you call a private school?) and I'm at a top university in the UK studying arabic. Now when offending someones background you usually draw aspects of your own that you can relate to it - so its easier to think on the spot and offend someone quickly - you talk about not knowing a father, your mother being a ***** and abortion and domestic violence.... So I'm guessing your some white trash red-neck piece of shit from a broken family or whatever, or your from some god awful lower middleclass family and went to some shit hole community college and you now think your sigmund freud. I know my Father, he sent me to a £12,000 a year school - what the **** has yours ever done you worthless low lying ****?

I'm not whats wrong with America because I'm not an american YOUR whats wrong with america because you assume everyone is because "Gawd bless' the USA"

What kind of childish person are you to keep a diary, let alone where it can be found? If you want to keep things private, then keep them -private- and not where anyone can see them plain as day.

For all the people bashing her, I know exactly how much this hurts and what an invasion of privacy this is. I was also deppressed and sometimes writing things down, venting, helped me make it through the day. No ONE deserves that kind of pain of having their innermost thoughts read, picked apart, then thrown back in their face. They should have asked her what was wrong first, and if she said nothing, then left her alone till she felt comfortable telling them. This was THE wrong way of showing her their concern.

Yes it is a really bad way of going about showing their concern but I think that in some situations, most likely not this one, where the child may be doing something really dangerous or so depressed they are considering suicide it is the responsibility of the parent to do what ever is in their power to help. If that were the case and they were able to find this out because of the invasion of privacy I would hope that after the child were better and not suffering they would at least understand why their parents did something like going through their diary. Also on that note I would hope that if a parent suspected something was wrong, found and read said diary but then discovered they were mistaken they would have enough sense not to ever tell the child they had read the diary. Yes the privacy would still have been invaded but hopefully the child wouldn't find out about it and lose faith in their parents. It is a double edged sword with parenting, there are so many things that you can do that to you seem like you're just looking out for your kids but to the kid you are just being overprotective. It is a very thin line that parents and their children teeter on, and sadly it is one that is very often crossed in a negative and hurtful way. I sincerely hope that if you ever have children of your own this isn't something you have to deal with, not because I don't believe you'd handle it appropriately but because it is always a difficult situation.
