This is why I always look both ways just incase a crazy guy is running from the police and going against traffic

That's ironic...but yet how did you not see it? A car moving toward you with the white lights on is pretty noticeable one way or not still look both ways

I remember being taught "look left, look right, look left again, if it's all clear, march" as a child. You look both ways before crossing. Cars can reverse, and cyclists are often allowed to ride both ways even when it's a one-way street.
