I think that would depend on how far you are reversing. Reversing to park or get out of a parking spot, yes that is legal. However just driving in reverse up the street.... I doubt it, but laws are different everywhere I guess.

how do you know he didn't? and anyways, looking left on a one way usually means checking for traffic going in the right direction, so taking the time to look left again might have contributed to him not seeing the car going in reverse. not that it his fault or anything; how could he have seen that coming?

Wow. This is going into my favorites for sure. You know, people always laugh at me when I cross one way streets and look both ways first. Now I can tell them that one time I read this thing online and this chick got hit because she didn't look both directions.

Welcome to the United States buddy. I have seen people reverse all of the way down one-way streets before because they think it's okay if they are facing the right direction here. I feel bad for you.
