Your pharmacist is right. There is nothing SAFE you can do to make it less itchy. It's itchy because all the dead skin that would normally get rubbed off or washed away is building up under there, trapped. We get itchy to help remove dead skin cells, or other irritants. You're just going to have to deal with it. :

I hate it when people use the expressions "be a man" or "man up." As if your gender has anything to do with your ability to cope with an itch...?
